Set Your Fitness Goals and Kickstart the New Year

Let’s face it. December is one of the busiest months of the year, filled with family gatherings, parties, last-minute work deadlines, and all the delicious food that comes with Christmas. Mince pie, anyone?

No matter how motivated you are, it’s easy for your regular fitness routine to take a back seat, but it doesn’t have to be this way this year! December can also be the perfect opportunity to reflect on your goals and plan for the year ahead — and the BSBC is open throughout Christmas and January.

Doing a bit of extra planning and setting clear fitness objectives now can help you enter 2026 feeling motivated, energised and ready to try something new, whether that’s a new sparring class or our upcoming Muay Thai classes.

Whatever your goals, here’s how to set yourself challenges and set yourself up for a powerful start!

1. Set Realistic Goals

One of the best ways to stay on track over the holidays and going into January is to set realistic, achievable goals.

Instead of focusing on maintaining a strict routine and stripping the joy out of the holidays, think about what you want to achieve in the next few weeks and months.

Write them down and track your progress. It’s a simple step that can make a big difference, especially throughout December.

2. Try Something New

Along with reflection, the start of a new year is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone.

If you’ve been boxing for a while, why not challenge yourself with Muay Thai? Next year, the Bil Sha Boxing Club will host all-new Muay Thai classes in London. So, get yourself booked in and be the first to try these existing sessions.

Also, trying a new discipline not only keeps training exciting but also helps you develop new skills, improve coordination, and boost overall fitness.

The holidays are a great moment to mentally prepare for new challenges, so by January, you will be ready to take on fresh experiences with confidence.

3. Personal Training Can Help

If staying motivated over the festive season feels tricky, personal training can be a real game-changer.

A personal trainer can tailor sessions to your specific goals, offer expert advice and provide the encouragement you need to push through.

Even a few sessions before the new year can help you start January with momentum, ensuring you are prepared for new classes, challenges and personal milestones.

4. Make Every Session Count

During the busy holiday period, it’s important to make the most of your available time.

Short, focused sessions, whether it’s boxing drills, strength training or a taster session, can be far more effective than longer, inconsistent workouts.

Remember, it’s okay to miss a few workouts now and then. Especially if you need to attend multiple holiday parties, including the infamous work ‘do!

Quality always beats quantity, and maintaining a consistent routine, even in small bursts, helps your body stay active and your mind sharp.

Helping You Be Your Best Throughout December and January

This Christmas, don’t just think about taking a break. Think about what you want to achieve in the year ahead.

Set your goals, be open to trying new or working out at different times, and consider personal training to keep you motivated and on track. But ultimately, remember that this is a busy season, and there’s no harm done if you do skip a morning workout after a night with your nearest and dearest.

And if you need a helping hand, the BSBC team is here to help you! With top-class equipment and expert coaches, we can provide a space to train and stay motivated throughout the holidays and beyond.
